Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees live
The Major Baseball League (MLB) live from the USA. Watching is worth it!
With both the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets' respective offenses not carrying much momentum, tonight's opener of a three-game series between the clubs could come down to pitching.
Atlanta might surprisingly have the edge, as Tim Hudson goes for a third straight win while New York starter Johan Santana will be looking to rebound from one of his worst starts of the season Monday at Turner Field.
The first-place Braves have lost two straight and five of their last seven games to see their edge over the second-place Phillies fall to 2 1/2 games in the National League East. The Mets are 6 1/2 games off the pace, so this figures to be a big series and homestand for the club.
New York will also visit Philadelphia for three games following this set as it looks to make up ground in the division.
To do that, the Mets will need Santana to shake off his disastrous start versus the Cardinals last Wednesday. The former Cy Young Award winner had gone 3-0 with a 0.71 earned run average in five July starts before closing the month by yielding seven runs on a season-high 13 hits over 5 2/3 innings. Santana did get a no-decision in his team's extra-inning loss despite posting his worst start since giving up 10 runs in a loss to the Phillies on May 2.
The 31-year-old lefty is 8-5 with a 3.11 ERA this year and 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in two starts versus the Braves. In 10 career starts against the franchise, he is 2-5 with a 2.01 ERA.
Hudson, meanwhile, has won consecutive outings for the first time since a three-start win streak from May 11-21 and has yielded just one run over his current unbeaten stretch.

Lindsay Lohan Released From Jail
After serving 13 days in jail, Lohan was taken straight to a rehab facility on Monday morning.

After serving 13 days of a three-month sentence in a Los Angeles county jail, Lindsay Lohan was released at 1:35 a.m. on Monday (August 2) and driven straight to a rehab facility. According to the Los Angeles Times, sheriff's spokesperson Steve Whitmore confirmed that the 24-year-old actress would go straight to a court-ordered treatment facility upon release, but he would not name the program.
"The court order specified that certain named people would pick her up. It's our understanding she went directly to a treatment center," he said, adding that, "when an inmate is released, they leave with the clothes they came in. She was given two huge bags full of mail and books. She was noticeably moved by the amount of mail and books sent to her. She thanked everybody as she left."
The paper reported that there was the expected crush of media outside the Century Regional Detention Facility awaiting the release of Lohan, who on July 20 began serving her sentence for violating probation on a 2007 DUI conviction.
To ensure her safety behind bars, officials kept Lohan away from other inmates, and, like many low-level, non-violent offenders, she was released for good behavior after serving less than a quarter of her sentence, due to chronic overcrowding at the facility.
People reports that Lohan will spend her 90-day rehab sentence at a facility run by UCLA Medical Center. She was originally slated to check into a different facility, but the judge in the case changed the location after fearing information could be leaked about Lohan's treatment.
"There was concern that [Morningside Recovery] was not a secure enough facility," district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said. Judge Marsha Revel was reportedly also concerned that drugs could be easily passed to the "Mean Girls" actress at the other facility.
Lohan could potentially be sent back to jail if the court is notified of any additional probation violations during her treatment. In the year following her release, she will be subject to random drug testing.
