The game will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida and Thursday, October 7 2010 the match will start at exactly 9:30 PM EST.
Atlanta Braves VS San Francisco Giants: In an odd twist, it took each team 162 games to secure a spot in the postseason and ironically it was the Giants victory over San Diego on Sunday that set up this match up. The Giants are participants in the playoffs for the first time since 2003, while Atlanta’s last appearance came in 2005. While Bruce Bochy had not guided his team to a higher than third place finish in four years, Bobby Cox was a fixture in the postseason throughout the 90’s.
Both teams are similar in the way they go about things in that they are pitching heavy with two of the best pitching staffs in the National League. The flip side is that both have been susceptible to lapses at the plate where runs have been almost painful to come by. Even so, their pitching has limited the damage and prevented the prolonged slumps that doomed some of the competition.
